Two Weeks Notice
A Note to Minions:
There comes the day you shake hands hello and then walk into your boss's office to shake hands goodbye. Innocuous? Depends.
I will say, "I didn't expect an argument." Glee? Joy? Doubtful responses if you're worth anything to the business. What's fair - a month? Until they find a replacement? Or, my other favorite, "Oh, so you're giving your two weeks then? Just leave now. Get out of here."
It's hard to build connections if the road is constantly a one-way-journey. Do not feel guilty for wishing to move on. You are not a serf.
A Note to Supervisors:
Without somewhere to climb to inside your fortress, your worker bees will escape the hive to sweeter pastures.
If you're a good boss, you'll let them grow.
If you're a great boss, you'll open the door for them - when they leave, when they invite you for lunch later on, and when they return on more even grounds.
